Hyundai Accent

The 2011 Hyundai Accent

The 2011 Hyundai is a subcompact that is one of the more popular ones in its class. The reason for this popularity is that it is one of the least expensive cars on the market. You do get a lot for your money when you buy this car. However there are reasons that you may want to consider going with a different vehicle rather than the Accent.

The 2011 Hyundai Accent is a bit of a strange car in that it does somethings very well and other areas are quite poor. The result is that your opinion of the car is largely going to depend on what is important to you. The area where the Accent really shines is in its driving performance. The four cylinder engine is surprisingly good when it comes to acceleration which is nice and smooth. The car also handles quite well for a car in this class. The five speed manual transmission is quite good but the automatic is a little bit disappointing.

The other area where the Accent really shines is one some of the equipment that is available standard on the car. The stereo is by far the best that you will find in the class for example. The ride is also surprisingly quiet. These features along with an excellent warranty have made the Accent a very popular choice. There is however some bad news when it comes to this car that really turns some people off.

The biggest problem with the Hyundai Accent is safety, obviously this is a major concern. The car did quite poorly in side impact crash testing. Obviously it did well enough to be allowed on the road but compared to other cars in its class the results were not good. The other issue is that anti lock brakes are not standard which is quite unusual in this day and age. In addition to the safety concerns there are also issues with the suspension which produces a fairly rough ride, especially over uneven surfaces.

Given all of the good and the bad points that exist about this Hyundai car it is hard to make a recommendation on it. On the one hand it is very affordable, even for a subcompact it is quite a big cheaper than most of its competitors. This is a big attraction for a lot of people and most buyers are quite budget conscious. So on the one hand people who buy in this class will get more than their money's worth when it comes to performance and features like the stereo. On the other hand it is hard to overlook the fact that there are some real safety issues with this car. When all is said and done we would have to say that there are enough other options in the class that you should probably consider one of them instead.
