The 2011 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen first introduced the Golf more than thirty years ago and it has been a popular choice. It has gone through many changes over the years including a major redesign for the 2011 model year. This is the sixth generation of the Golf and it is a real improvement over the older versions. They have managed to upgrade the car dramatically without losing the things that made the Golf such a popular choice.

The first thing that you will notice about the 2011 Golf GTI is the engine, on paper it sounds like it isn't that big of a change after all the old version had four cylinder that produced two hundred horse power just like this one. However the new engine is actually the one that is used by Audi an it is a very big improvement over the old one. The engine is much smoother and it has more torque throughout the power range which makes the whole car much more fun to drive. In addition they have replaced the old five speed gear box with a six speed which most people thought it should have had all along anyway.

The Volkswagen Golf has always been a sporty little car that has had a suspension that is aimed at performance rather than comfort. That being said in this case the car is really quite comfortable in day to day driving situations. What really stands out however is how much fun this car is to drive, it can really get around corners and it has a feel to it that is not nearly as polished as a lot of the other cars that you will find on the road these days. This is something that most people who choose this type of car really appreciate.

Most people love the look of the Volkswagen Golf and even though it has been updated it still has the look that is expected when you think of the car. This is true of the interior as well, it is more refined than the older versions of the car but it still has a look that is unmistakably Golf. There is a fair amount of room in the car, at least by the standards of a compact although the back seats are of fairly limited value.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is a top safety pick which should be an important consideration when you are buying a car. One area that it may be open for criticism is that it is not the most fuel efficient option out there. By no means is it in same category as an SUV but for a compact car the gas mileage isn't great. Overall though it is an excellent car that is a lot of fun to drive and available at a very reasonable price. It is well worth considering if you are in the market for a sporty compact.
